Vintage Rolex GMT-Master 1675 Nipple Dial

Pre-Owned Watch Condition Examination

Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master ref 1675 (1978) is in honest, vintage condition throughout consistent with age. The case is in overall good condition with normal signs of wear. The hallmarks on the back of the lugs are clearly visible. The bezel insert is in great condition with some wear and scratches. The bezel is tight to rotate. The dial is in great condition with some light wear. The dial is black and shows signs of slight fading giving it almost a tropical look, this can be hard to notice depending on the lighting. It was originally jet black and now it almost has a bit of a goldish glow in the light. The dial has a mark between six and seven on the dial that can be hard to notice. The hour markers and hands have developed patina. The lume on the dial and in the hands has aged to an attractive creamy color. The lume in the hands show some wear and the hour hand has a small hole in the lume. The bracelet is in good condition with some wear and a bit of stretch between the links. The crown on the clasp is still prominent.

This watch is coming directly from the original owner who wore and loved it over the years. They opted for the Oyster bracelet over the Jubilee; it’s amazing how the Oyster bracelet really changes the whole vibe of the watch when compared to it on Jubilee. This dial on this example has aged ever so subtly over the years and when it catches the light right you can see how its faded a bit adding to the overall charm. 

The reference 1675 is the second iteration of the original GMT Master. A handful of metal options were produced under ref. 1675, including the all-gold version we have here.  It pairs the all-gold finish with a handsome black dial and bezel. However, what really sets this watch apart from other vintage Rolexes on the market are the charming yellow gold nipple hour markers and creamy luminous plots.
