Pre-owned Rolex Air-King ref 5500 (1986) hails from the original Air Series of watches, initially inspired by British Royal Air Force pilots. As the story goes, pilots preferred reliable Rolex Oyster watches over their military-issued watches. Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf was inspired by his brand’s popularity among the brave pilots and aimed to create an affordable timepiece in their honor. And the Air King was born. Ref. 5500 is among the most recognizable editions. It boasts a classic vintage dress watch design set, pairing a 34mm Oyster case with a self-winding movement and time-only dial. The all-steel stunner also sports a retro acrylic crystal and Tritium luminescent material.
