Vintage Submariner Rolex 1680

Vintage Watch Condition Examination:

This Submariner is in great vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is strong with some wear and scratches. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the bezel is in great condition with wear and scratches. The pip is a later replacement. The crown has a indentation on the edge. The matte dial is in great condition with light patina. The lume on the dial have developed patina and aged to an attractive custard color. The hands have developed light patina and the lume has developed patina and matches the lume on the dial. The bracelet is in good condition with some scratches and wear throughout, it has stretch between the links. The crystal is in good condition with some wear. 

Description: Vintage Rolex Submariner 1680

Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref 1680 (Circa 1979) is one of the most sought-after vintage watches on the market. It hails from the legendary Submariner collection, complete with an Oyster case, 60-minute diver’s bezel, and self-winding movement. The 1680 also holds a special place in Rolex history as the first Submariner to feature a date mechanism on the dial. Rolex initially made the 1680 with a single line of red text on the dial and would later move to all white text like the example we have here. These “White” 1680s have gained popularity and good ones are becoming harder and harder to find. 

This example has aged beautifully over the years from the bezel to the striking custard colored lume, it really pops. Besides the lovely athestic, this watch comes with a really great full kit of box and punched papers, including including the anchor and hangtag with matching serial number. We love these little details!
