Vintage Watch Condition Examination:
This Submariner is in great vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is strong with some wear, nicks, and scratches. The bezel has remained sharp and the bezel insert is a later, service replacement in great condition with light wear. The service “white” matte dial is in overall great condition with light patina. The lume on the dial have aged to an attractive off-white eggshell white color. The lume in the service hands are lighter and the color of the lume on the dial. The folded bracelet is in great condition with some scratches and wear, it has a bit of stretch between the links. The bracelet clasp is stamped “P11” indicating it is from 1991 and the clasp itself is a replacement. The crystal has light wear and scratches.
Description: Vintage Rolex Submariner 1680
It was very common for Rolex to change and update watches when they come in for routine service and that is exactly what happened to this watch. This example was born with a “Red” Submariner dial and has been replaced with an all white version that has tritium lume. The tritium lume has aged to a lovely cream color giving the watch a nice vintage athestic. These all serviced up examples offer a great value and are ideal for daily wearers.
