Description: Vintage Rolex Submariner 16800
Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref 16800 (1984) is referred to as a transitional model. Rolex went from acrylic to sapphire crystal, an updated movement with quick-set date, and at the beginning of the run the watches featured matte dials like the previous 1680. Later in the production Rolex changed the dials to glossy with white gold surrounds. These are known as transitional models due to the blend of older and new features Rolex decided to use together. These early 16800s with matte dials are the perfect mix of vintage styling with modern touches like the sapphire glass and quick-set date.
The very attractive dial and the way the lume has developed on this watch gives it a quintessential vintage vibe. These 16800s with matte dials offer a great value and are becoming more sought after by collectors. This watch has retained its box and punched papers which is always a bonus. When examining these goodies you can see the little green Rolex wallet has a small sticker on it with the case serial number printed on it and the papers have the caseback sticker stuck to it. We love these little details and hope you do too!
